Bali Ocean Days - A Conference & Showcase Celebrating Marine Conservation Values

The Sky Blue Sea Foundation and Darmawan & Associates consultancy agency have created an annual event for gathering and bridging diverse communities in support of the United Nations SDG # 14 'Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources'.

The ambition is to walk the talk for the future of our Blue Planet, and invite public officials, financial institutions, sustainable economy stakeholders, conservation NGOs and academics to unite in a major public event and raise awareness for one of the most important environmental cause of our times.

The ocean connects us all, so be part of our movement, take action and join us in Bali!

Awards

Awards bali Ocean days

The Sky Blue Sea Award trophy was created to reflect the value of a main concept, ‘Complexity in Sustainability’. The masterpiece designed by Ayi Rama & Nathan Mahawi is made out of stainless steel and high-grade crystal glass, by utilizing traditional glassblowing and modern metalworking technology.

Marine grade stainless steel was processed using lathe technique to create a water drop effect, as a representation of endangered oceans, then manually etched to form a solid base, as the symbol of a sustainable sanctuary.

The glass component represents the complexity of environmental issues humanity has to face. Heated to 1200°C and blended with upcycled shards to create a blue hue surface, the piece was blown and formed, using utmost patience and precision to shape an infinity symbol. The hand-made glass piece reflects never ending challenges that require permanent care. Non-linear form invites creative minds and unconventional methods that we need to develop sustainable solutions; transparency implies open communication, integrity and accountability, values we must advocate to recover the original blue color of our oceans and sky.
